Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Precision Machinist Operator to join a well- established manufacturing organization in La Vista, Nebraska. This role focuses on producing high-quality custom components using both computer numerical control (CNC) and conventional machining equipment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to precision and safety.
Keys to Success in This Role
The ideal candidate will possess 3–5+ years of hands-on machining experience, including setting up and operating CNC and conventional machines. Success requires proficiency in reading blueprints, calculating speeds, feeds, threading, and tolerances, and using precision measuring tools. Strong math skills, quick troubleshooting ability, and the capability to build fixtures and make adjustments are essential. Equally important are a quality-driven mindset, clear communication, commitment to safety and 5S practices, adaptability, and physical stamina to work effectively in an active manufacturing environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan machining sequences
- Select and install fixtures, tools, and materials on mills, lathes, and related machines
- Calculate and input machine settings for speeds, feeds, and depths
- Edit CNC programs as needed to meet part specifications
- Monitor operations and make real-time adjustments to ensure accuracy
- Verify finished parts using precision measurement tools
- Perform trial runs to confirm proper machine setup
- Build fixtures for drilling, milling, and turning operations
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot issues
- Communicate design or specification discrepancies
- Support 5S, safety initiatives, and quality policies
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Associate degree in Machine/Tool & Die Technology, certified apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant job shop or machining experience
- 3–5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC and conventional machines
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Solid math skills including geometry, trigonometry, fractions, and ratios
- Ability to read and analyze blueprints and technical documents
- Hands-on proficiency in threading, tool sharpening, and precision adjustments
- Experience selecting and using specialty tooling
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy items
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with noise, vibration, and machinery
