KEYS TO THE JOB (MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS)
- Must hold a valid State of Delaware Journeyman Electrician certification – REQUIRED
- Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Role is focused on maintenance and electrical maintenance – NOT installation work
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background
POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is a hands-on Manufacturing Mechanical Electrician position focused on electrical upkeep, troubleshooting, and reliability of production machinery in a fast-paced industrial setting. The primary emphasis is maintaining existing equipment and resolving faults rather than performing new installations.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Identify, isolate, and correct electrical problems across production equipment and automated systems
- Troubleshoot power components, variable frequency drives, instrumentation, contactors, and PLC-controlled systems
- Ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and within electrical specifications
- Respond quickly to electrical issues impacting production
ROUTINE SYSTEM CARE
- Perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance
- Reduce unplanned downtime through proactive servicing
- Extend equipment lifespan through consistent maintenance practices
- Document all service activities and corrective actions in maintenance tracking systems
ENHANCEMENTS & TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENTS
- Support upgrades and retrofits to existing electrical systems
- Assist with startup of updated equipment and controls
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system efficiency
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Perform all work in compliance with electrical codes and safety standards
- Follow lockout/tagout and energy isolation procedures
- Participate in safety initiatives and maintain a safety-first mindset
TEAM COLLABORATION
- Work closely with operations and technical teams to resolve production issues
- Provide guidance and basic training to other technicians when needed
- Assist with mechanical or pneumatic troubleshooting when electrical systems are involved
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in electrical technology or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience
- Ability to analyze electrical circuits and automation controls
- Experience troubleshooting PLC-driven equipment
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and industrial controls
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens or Allen-Bradley
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and preventative maintenance practices
PREFERRED CREDENTIALS
- Valid Delaware Journeyman Electrician certification (REQUIRED)
- Experience working in GMP or regulated manufacturing environments
