About the Opportunity 

We are recruiting on behalf of a privately owned multifamily property group seeking a hands-on Maintenance Operations Manager to lead maintenance and turn operations at a large apartment community in the Austintown / Youngstown area. This role oversees a sizeable property of 500+ units and is ideal for a leader who thrives in fast-paced, resident- focused environments. This is a repeat client with a strong track record of hiring experienced multifamily professionals. The organization is responsive, realistic, and values proven operators who can deliver results. 

Important Requirements 

  • Candidates must live within a 40-minute radius of Youngstown, OH 
  • Direct experience managing maintenance teams for 500+ multifamily units is required 
  • Client is not considering candidates from nursing home, assisted living, or public housing authority backgrounds 
  • This is a fully onsite position – no remote work available 

What You’ll Own 

  • Lead, coach, and schedule maintenance technicians, housekeepers, and support staff 
  • Drive unit turns, work order completion, and preventive maintenance execution
  • Ensure vacant units are market-ready on schedule with minimal rework 
  • Partner closely with on-site property management to align priorities and timelines 
  • Review weekly work order, vacancy, and aging reports to address bottlenecks 
  • Oversee inventory, purchasing, vendor coordination, and cost control 
  • Inspect completed work to maintain quality, safety, and curb appeal standards
  • Train staff on systems, policies, and efficient daily workflow planning 
  • Support budgeting efforts and monitor maintenance-related expenses 

What You’ll Bring 

  • Proven experience managing maintenance operations for large multifamily communities (500+ units required) 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, train, and hold teams accountable 
  • Experience with property management systems (Yardi experience is a plus) 
  • Solid understanding of fair housing, safety, and regulatory compliance 
  • Hands-on problem solver who can prioritize effectively
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
