About the Opportunity 

We are recruiting for an early-career Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing manufacturing organization in La Vista, Nebraska. This position supports custom- engineered solutions in industrial power transmission and automation systems. It is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to gain hands-on experience in product design, analysis, and manufacturing support. 

New graduates with a Mechanical Engineering degree are encouraged to apply. Candidates with one or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment are highly preferred. 

Position Overview 

The Junior Mechanical Design Engineer will work closely with the engineering and product platforms team to develop and refine mechanical and electromechanical designs. This role blends design work, modeling, testing support, and collaboration with manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality, customer-specific solutions. 

Keys to Success in This Role 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required 
  • Experience with design reviews and Bill of Materials (BOM) creation 
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software 
  • Experience working within large ERP systems 
  • Ability to work an early morning/day shift schedule 
  • Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Develop and refine mechanical and electromechanical designs for custom applications
  • Create 3D models, engineering drawings, and detailed documentation 
  • Support prototyping, assembly, and hands-on testing activities 
  • Perform simulations and analyses including stress, fatigue, and durability evaluations 
  • Manage engineering changes and material selections 
  • Support design verification and validation processes 
  • Interpret applicable standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines 
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure smooth product transitions 
  • Assist with on-site inspections and commissioning activities when required 

Required Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred 
  • Will consider new graduates with a Mechanical Engineering degree 
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks 
  • Experience with BOM creation and design reviews 
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, or similar) 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work hands-on in a plant or prototype environment 
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and wear required PPE
