Position Summary 

Responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for automotive stampings and welded assemblies. This role supports quoting, engineering, and project teams by building cost models, evaluating feasibility, and ensuring designs are production-ready and cost- optimized. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for stampings and welded assemblies 
  • Develop cost structures and compile full customer quotations 
  • Evaluate engineering changes for cost impact and feasibility 
  • Review enquiry documents for producibility and completeness 
  • Plan optimal manufacturing methods using simulation and process tools 
  • Coordinate with engineering, sales, and project teams on cost inputs 
  • Support design teams to ensure cost-effective and production-ready designs 
  • Maintain and update cost data in internal databases (CIM / CDB) 
  • Execute estimation activities in line with PDP workflows and timelines 
  • Provide cost support to local and global project teams 
  • Participate in development of internal estimation standards 
  • Act as point of contact for cost-related questions across departments 

Education & Experience Requirements (Required) 

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in automotive stampings or welded assemblies 
  • 3+ years of cost estimating experience 
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers 
  • Proficiency with estimation tools, Excel, and databases 
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills 

Strong Plus 

  • Experience with CAD software such as Visi 
  • Experience with cost databases (CDB, CIM) 
  • Exposure to simulation tools or process development workflows 
  • Experience working with global teams 

Nice to Have 

  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience 
  • APQP / PDP exposure 
  • Experience supporting product design for manufacturability 

Work Environment 

Office-based role within a manufacturing environment. High collaboration with engineering, sales, and production teams.
