Position Overview
Well-established building automation and controls contractor seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support installation, commissioning, and service of commercial and industrial automation systems. Role requires strong electrical knowledge, hands-on field experience, and troubleshooting ability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test control wiring for sensors, actuators, and panels
- Commission and troubleshoot building automation and DDC systems
- Load and modify control programs under direction of senior engineers
- Verify and document system operation and testing results
- Diagnose and resolve electrical or communication issues in the field
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams and control drawings
- Calibrate control devices for accuracy and reliability
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain safety compliance
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years experience with building automation, HVAC controls, or electrical systems
- Strong understanding of DDC controls and low-voltage wiring
- Proficiency with test instruments and diagnostic tools
- Ability to interpret electrical prints and control sequences
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Tridium Niagara, Schneider Electric, or similar platforms
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or LON protocols
- Tridium Niagara N4 certification a plus
- Background in HVAC service, commissioning, or networking/IP systems
